By Accelerate Technews on August 28, 2024 News and Updates

BigCommerce has announced significant upgrades to its e-commerce platform today, targeting enterprise B2B and omnichannel markets. The latest enhancements include AI-driven features and an open-source B2B Buyer Portal designed to meet the evolving needs of global brands and retailers.

AI-Enhanced B2B Capabilities

Among the new features are AI-enhanced B2B quote workflows and AI-generated product descriptions. These innovations aim to streamline the quoting process and improve product content across digital storefronts. Troy Cox, Chief Product Officer at BigCommerce, highlighted that these updates build on the company’s previous announcements to provide even more robust solutions for businesses.

In a move to promote customization and flexibility, BigCommerce has open-sourced its B2B Buyer Portal. It allows B2B sellers to tailor the portal to suit specific industry needs, such as those in nuclear medicine or complex electronics. The open-source approach will help large enterprises manage complex purchasing hierarchies and adapt to various e-commerce use cases.

Mobile-Optimized Quoting Process

The upgraded quoting process is now fully mobile-optimized, enabling sales reps to handle high volumes of quotes directly through their mobile devices. This improvement aims to enhance efficiency and accessibility in B2B transactions, providing a seamless experience for users on the go.

New Tools and Features

Additional updates include the Catalyst composable online storefront, featuring the Makeshift visual editor for streamlined store development. The BigAI Copywriter, built with Google’s AI model, now generates SEO-optimized product descriptions and brand language. The integration of Feedonomics’ Instant Commerce also transforms BOPIS (Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store) capabilities for brands.

Paul Demery, a contributing editor for Digital Commerce 360, notes that these advancements position BigCommerce as a leader in e-commerce technology, catering to the complex needs of modern B2B and omnichannel commerce.
