Renault Group is thrilled to announce the appointment of Philippe Krief as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective September 1, 2024. Krief, who will also continue in his role as CEO of Alpine, succeeds Gilles Le Borgne, who will transition to a strategic advisory position with the CEO.

Driving Innovation and Excellence

Philippe Krief, former Director of Engineering at Ferrari, will manage engineering activities for Renault Group and lead the Alpine brand. His role is to drive innovation, develop advanced technologies, and establish Renault Group as a market leader in the rapidly evolving automotive industry.

Under Krief’s leadership, Alpine has made significant strides, including the new A290 and the upcoming GT crossover. Additionally, the brand has accelerated the development of its new electric vehicle platform and embraced hydrogen technology with the Alpenglow Hy4 prototype. These achievements underscore Krief’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering.

Leadership Transition

Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo expressed his appreciation for Gilles Le Borgne’s contributions, noting his role in the company’s remarkable turnaround. “Gilles has been instrumental in revitalizing our engineering efforts and achieving our renovation goals. Philippe inherits a strong position, and I am confident that his expertise will drive Renault Group to new heights of innovation and competitiveness,” de Meo said.

A Proven Track Record

Philippe Krief, a seasoned professional with a career spanning Michelin, Fiat Group, Ferrari, Maserati, and Alpine, has demonstrated rapid development and innovative breakthroughs.
